- By Sr. Romilda Borges, S.D.V. It’s hard to believe that twenty five years in religious life as member of the Vocationist Sisters have passed. It only seems like yesterday that joyfully, I answered God’s call. I certainly have enjoyed my life as a Vocationist Sister in spite of the difficulties, toils, struggles and the difficult moments of life that I have encountered throughout the years but confidence in God’s love and mercy encouraged me to always turn to him and pray for his help and assistance. “Be not afraid” are words that have inspired me to leave home, family, friends and land and seek to serve God in areas new and unknown. No assurance does life give us, when we start a work anew, but the words of Christ bring us security and peace. “Be not afraid” I’ll be there with you. Yes, it has been this assurance of Christ that brought me up to celebrate my 25th anniversary of religious life. Peace, joy and gratitude abound in my spirit always for having been called to be a Vocationist Sister. I not only owe my vocation to my mother but also to my gift of fidelity to God’s call. She prayed for me that I would persevere in my vocation. I am sure that in heaven she is still praying for me. With the deepest gratitude I wish to thank the Vocationist Sisters and Vocationist Fathers who have come into my life and inspired, touched, and illuminated me through their presence, support and contribution to my journey and struggles of life and most of all for their inspirational and caring teaching.
